Launching the Timescapes Archive

After two years of technical and scientific development, the Timescapes Archive was formally launched at the British Library on October 16th2009. The event was attended by an invited audience of over 80 researchers, practitioners, policy makers and the press. It was introduced by Dr. Alan Gillespie CBE, the Chair of the ESRC. This was then followed by short presentations explaining the background and significance of this Timescapes archive, especially for qualitative longitudinal research in the UK.
There were also demonstrations of the key functional features of the Archive showing how researchers and others can use it to browse and search for data and supporting materials. In parallel with the launch, there was a poster presentation by related archives.
